May 25, 2019: DC Modern Classics: Watchmen Signing

Dave Gibbons and John Higgins appear at Forbidden Plant to sign DC Modern Classics: Watchmen on Saturday 25 May 2019 from 4 PM – 5 PM.

DC introduces DC Modern Classics, collecting ground-breaking, genre-defining works in new hardcover editions, presented in a beautifully designed slipcase.

In a world where the mere presence of American super-heroes changed history, the U.S. won the Vietnam War, Richard Nixon is still president, and the Cold War is in effect.

WATCHMEN begins as a murder mystery, but it soon unfolds into a planet-altering conspiracy. As the resolution comes to a head, an unlikely group of reunited heroes – Rorschach, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias – must test the limits of their convictions and ask themselves where the true line between good and evil lies.

Dave Gibbons is one of Britain’s finest comic artists, whose most famous work is the multi-award- winning Watchmen. He has also drawn series including Batman, Doctor Who and Give Me Liberty, and has written Batman vs. Predator, Green Lantern and World’s Finest, as well as his own graphic novel The Originals.

John Higgins is probably best known for colouring Watchmen and Batman The Killing Joke. He created, wrote, and drew, the acclaimed Razorjack series. He also wrote and designing an autobiographical art book, Beyond Watchmen & Judge Dredd: The Art of John Higgins, published by Liverpool University Press.

March 23, 2019: Hellboy Day Signing

Duncan Fegredo and Laurence Campbell sign at Forbidden Planet’s London Megastore on Saturday, March 23, 2019 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of HELLBOY!

Serving as the inspiration for the new feature film, in HELLBOY THE WILD HUNT, Hellboy is called to England to take part in an ancient ritual of hunting giants, but quickly faces a much more dangerous enemy: Nimue, the Queen of Blood, who has risen with plans to create a monstrous army.

In THE WILD HUNT OMNIBUS, terrible powers determined to kill Hellboy force him strike a deal with the Russian witch, the Baba Yaga, and to confront the truth about his destiny. The human race hangs in the balance, as well as King Arthur’s sword Excalibur, in a story that wipes England off the map and sets in motion the end of the world.

B.P.R.D THE DEVIL YOU KNOW VOL.1 takes us back to the time before the B.P.R.D existed, when Lovecraftian monsters had created a Hell on Earth.

As society rebuilds, strange cults vie for influence, and the demon Varvara emerges to lead the way. Abe Sapien returns from his self-imposed exile to rejoin Liz Sherman just in time for the Bureau to face the final threat to mankind.

In VOL. 2, Hellboy has returned to earth and reunited with the B.P.R.D. to help lead the push against one demon’s quest to turn New York City into a new Pandemonium. With the demon Varvara gathering followers from all over the country to do her bidding and create this new Hell on earth, the B.P.R.D. tracks her to New York, where she calls other demons of Hell to her side and transforms her cultists into an army of demons and zombies to take down the agents standing in her way.

DUNCAN FEGREDO is best known for collaborating with Mike Mignola on his signature creation, Hellboy. Previously Fegredo created a bunch of fabulous books at Vertigo with Peter Milligan and the hilarious Jay & Silent Bob with writer/director Kevin Smith.
