March 22, 2014: Hellboy Day

March 22 marks the twentieth anniversary of Mike Mignola's career-defining release of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1. After the character's somewhat humble beginnings in an eight-page feature in Dark Horse's San Diego Comic-Con Comics special, Seed of Destruction would begin the long life of the beloved "beast of the apocalypse."

In December, Dark Horse declared that March 22, 2014, would be Hellboy Day, with events happening in comic shops around the world!

G&B Comics has always been a firm supporter of Free Comic Book Day where we give out comics to the public without purchase in the spirit of FCBD. Our participation over the years can be seen in http://www.comic.com.sg/events.htm. This year we are doing it bigger and better and bringing G&B Comics’s FCBD to even greater heights.

Aside from doing our normal FCBD event in our store, we are also organizing a Special FREE COMIC BOOK DAY event in conjunction with the ICONIC mall at the "CATHAY" (www.thecathay.com.sg) which has been around since the 1930’s. It’s both a multiplex as well as a shopping mall and draws large crowds over the weekend. This will help to garner more awareness for FCBD as well as to let people enjoy comics.

FCBD will be on the opening weekend of the AVENGERS MOVIE in Singapore.

In conjunction with the CATHAY, G&B Comics will hold a special 3D movie night screening of the “AVENGERS” the day before FCBD. G&B Comics has booked a full hall of 300 capacity to watch with our guests and fans.The guests of honor are Nicola Scott & Ardian Syaf

Movie Night Lucky draws include Nicola scott original DC new 52 Superman Art page among other comic goodies like the Mouse Guard FCBD HC for all.

WE will set up 2 FCBD events on Free Comic Book Day itself:

The first event will be at our store G&B Comics in Rochor Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have creator signings and guests of honour

Nicola Scott and Ardian Syaf at the comic store.

Same week launch and signing session of Nicola Scott EARTH 2 #1

ALL purchase of Earth 2#1 at G&B Comics will enter a lucky draw to win a Wonder Woman commission painted art by Nicola Scott!

FCBD participants can also win Ardian Syaf’s DC new 52 Batgirl Original Art Page

We will then proceed to our partnered event at the “CATHAY” from 3 p.m. onwards. 5000 FREE FCBD comics will be given out at the MALL to the public at the atrium of the building at 5 p.m.

Our guests will also be signing at the mall which has kindly allocated 1000 square feet for G&B Comics FCBD event at the main entrance.

Our guests artists including Nicola Scott and Ardian Syaf will be on hand for autographs at the Cathay mall too.

There will be cosplayers and fans galore.
