Dec. 3, 2022: Grasshopper Comics’ Annual Christmas Party for Charity

On Saturday, December 3rd we are having our Annual Charity Extravaganza. This is around our 20th year having this event and it has steadily grown every year. The event is a charity fund raiser to support the John Theissen Children’s Foundation (JTCF.org) which provides a wide range of services to sick and underprivileged children here on Long Island working with over 180 hospitals and child welfare organizations. In 2019, our last event before the pandemic, we raised over $24,000 for the foundation and we hope to beat that this year. This year’s event also marks the store’s 30th Anniversary, so it’s kind of a big one for us.

This is an all day event that runs from approximately 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm. The current schedule is:

12:00 – 6:00 PM – Artists’ Alley – Andy MacDonald (Multiple Man, Detective Comics) will be among a number of artists donating their time to sketch for free all day.

12:30 – 2:30 PM – The 501st Legion will be making their appearance along with Darth Vader who will be making his 501st appearance with the Legion that day

2:00 – 3:00 PM – Signing with the legendary Chris Claremont. Signatures will be $10 each with all proceeds donated to the John Theissen Children’s Foundation

5:00 – 6:00 PM – Santa Claus will be appearing!

5:00 – 6:00 PM – Writer Joe Kelly will be hosting a “Meet and Greet”. Come have him sign books while engaging in a comic discussion with a writer of both comics and screen

8:00 PM – Charity Raffle! We will raffle off over 100 prizes to raise money for the foundation. Tickets are $5.00 each and prizes include vacations, original art, CGC books, signed and exclusive comics and more.

There will be various photo opportunities throughout the day, including a life-size Funko POP! box, an appearance by The Mandalorian, and a few new surprises we have planned.

Dec. 1, 2018: Grasshopper’s Comics Charity Drive

Artist Adam Kubert (Avengers, Uncanny X-Men, Action Comics, Wolverine, and more) appears at Grasshopper’s Comics on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 3:00 PM till 4:00 PM as part of the their 27th Annual Toy Drive, Charity Raffle and Holiday Party.

Bring a new, unwrapped toy during the afternoon and meet great guest artists who will be sketching for FREE! Meet Darth Vader and Santa Claus! Then join us for our incredible Charity Raffle at 8:00 pm! All toys and proceeds go to support the John Thiessen Children’s Foundation (JTCF.org).

Chris Giarusso, Jacob Chabot, David Gallaher, Pat Reilly, and Gregg Schigiel appear on Saturday December 6th from noon till 6:00 PM for Grasshopper’s Comics 22nd Annual Holiday Party! Additionally there will be cosplayers, cookies, a charity raffle and more!
