March 22 marks the twentieth anniversary of Mike Mignola's career-defining release of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1. After the character's somewhat humble beginnings in an eight-page feature in Dark Horse's San Diego Comic-Con Comics special, Seed of Destruction would begin the long life of the beloved "beast of the apocalypse."
In December, Dark Horse declared that March 22, 2014, would be Hellboy Day, with events happening in comic shops around the world!
Guest: Alex De Campi
Writer Alex de Campi signs at Coast City Comics on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 6:00pm!
Guest: Jeff Kline
Jeff Kline, known for cartoons like GI Joe Renegades, Transformers Prime, Big Guy and Rusty, Godzilla, and Extreme Ghostbusters, just to name a few, appears at Coast City Comics promoting his new comic Indestructible and his new company, Darby Pop Publishing.
RICH WOODALL, the artist for the Phantom Variant cover of IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #22, appears at Coast City Comics on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 1:00 until 6:00 pm for an exclusive signing event!
We are the only store in Maine that carries these extremely limited covers, so this is a unique opportunity to have one of these special covers signed by the artist!
Rich modeled the TMNT #22 Phantom Variant off of Todd McFarlane’s cover art for Hulk #340! It’s a great cover, and we’re really excited to host Rich for this event!
Come get some free crap!
Way more importantly, Bob Camp will be here! Yes. THE Bob Camp!! He'll be here all day selling merch, doing sketches and commissions, and signings! Come hang out!
We're also going to be featuring the musical stylings of Uke Skywalker Meets Mando Calrissian!
And there'll probably be some cool costumed weirdos walking around!
5:30pm until 9:00pm in EST
You know the deal, guys. This is an open call for art. The theme this month is Nicktoons! If you, like me, grew up watching these twisted little cartoons, then you know that there are a TON of characters to choose from. Draw your favorite Nicktoon in your own style! Make Nicktoons act out your favorite scenes from Star Wars! I'm expecting an "Aaah! Real Monsters!" Cantina Scene from someone. Make it happen!
We'll also be doing a Nicktoons themed Drink & Draw at LFK the Wednesday before First Friday. We have a special treat for you, too! The special guest will be illustration/animation legend and co-creator of Ren & Stimpy, BOB CAMP! Join us!
First Friday will be Friday 2/1/13 & the Drink & Draw will be on the 1/30/13!
The only requisite that we have is that the piece you do is ready to hang on the wall. That's it! Have fun!
If you have any questions, then please feel free to email Chad at email@example.com.
5:30pm until 9:30pm
Jim Henson is one of the greatest human beings to ever live. This is why we want to celebrate his amazing creations with an art show that will showcase work inspired by them. Whether it's a mixed media piece of Kermit in the swamp or a felt and needle piece of Gelflings riding land striders, we want it here.
I'm only accepting work that can be hung on the wall. I don't have the space for statues or anything like that. I do ask that whatever you produce is in a frame that can be hung on a wall. Those are my only requirements. Other than that, go to town!
The deadline for submissions will be 8/2/12.
If you have any questions, then please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
It's time of year again! Make sure to hit up Coast City Comics for Free Comic Book Day!
We'll have a bunch of snacks, sales, The Maine Ghostbusters, and of course...FREE COMIC BOOKS!
Ben Bishop will be doing signings and drawings for people, too! Make sure to check out Ben's latest work in Lost Trail, the graphic novel adaption of Lost On A Mountain In Maine. Recently nominated for Book of the Year.
