Whiz Comics #23 (Fawcett Comics, Oct. 1941) is notable for featuring the debut of a character named Ibis the Invincible. Created by writer Bill Parker and artist C.C. Beck, Ibis was a magician who possessed a magical amulet that granted him various powers, including super strength, flight, and the ability to cast spells. Ibis the Invincible became one of Fawcett's popular characters, appearing in numerous issues of Whiz Comics and later getting his own title.
