Nain Rouge: The Red Legend
The Motor City urban legend. The Nain Rouge, translated The "Red Dwarf" made his home near the narrow straits French settlers were to name "Detroit." As the Steward of Straits, the Nain Rouge kept balance in the natural world. When French settler Antoine de Mothe Cadillac arrived things changed. The Nain Rouge was beaten and fled in anger. It is said that as he ran away, a curse was flung from his lips onto the entire region of Detroit. Now, the Nain Rouge is often seen just before a tragic event, a harbinger of doom. As Detroit faces problems, there have been many more sightings of the Nain Rouge and he seems to be growing in power.
