Thanks to Meriem, the garden is now wrecked by snow. The town must rely mainly on a scant amount of canned food now and everyone fears that they might not make it through winter without some new source of food.

Meriem wanders aimlessly on the outskirts of town and chances upon an abandoned house where she ducks in for shelter. Whose house was this - and what is in the basement?
