March 22, 2014: Hellboy Day

March 22 marks the twentieth anniversary of Mike Mignola's career-defining release of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1. After the character's somewhat humble beginnings in an eight-page feature in Dark Horse's San Diego Comic-Con Comics special, Seed of Destruction would begin the long life of the beloved "beast of the apocalypse."

In December, Dark Horse declared that March 22, 2014, would be Hellboy Day, with events happening in comic shops around the world!

May 4, 2013: Free Comic Book Day

The first Saturday in May, otherwise known as May 4th, alias Star Wars Day (May the 4th be With You!), get ready, get set, FREE COMICS! More than 30 special titles will be made available for free, one day only, from 11 am to 6pm. Customers are allowed up to 4 books per person, as we have to make sure comics are around to share throughout the day. If you really want to grab extra books, we are partnering with Cincinnati Public Libraries and the Covington Public Library, which will have comics on hand for Saturday and Sunday.

We are holding a Costume Contest, with plenty of prizes. Entry is simple, just submit to having your picture taken sometime during the day by staff, and our crack judges will determine winners.

All day long we will be having an upstairs sale of blow out proportions! All trade-paperbacks will be $5 and $10, lot's of $1 and $.50 comics. Drinks and snacks will be provided! What more can you ask for?

Buttons, buttons, buttons! Free buttons for everyone! Diamond Previews will be free as well, so if you want to know what's coming out, or just want to cut up pictures for your comic projects, grab them while they last.

The first 50 people that make a purchase will receive a copy of Uncanny Avengers #7. Other special books will be given away for anyone spending $20, $50, and $100. Yes the more you spend, the more you get! Great rewards await!

What is the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund?

Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the First Amendment rights of the comics art form and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians, and readers. The CBLDF provides legal referrals, representation, advice, assistance, and education in furtherance of these goals.

$5 Admission, which all goes to CBLDF.
Music and snacks provided.
