Excalibur Comics is excited to welcome John Arcudi, Farel Dalrymple, Matt Sheean, and Brandon Graham on September 21st from 1 PM – 3 PM for a signing event 100 years in the making!

Join editor John Arcudi (B.P.R.D, Rumble) and artists Farel Dalrymple (Pop Gun Kids, Proxima Centauri), Matt Sheean (Expansion, Ancestor) & Brandon Graham (Prophet, Island) as they celebrate Herman Melville’s Bicentennial with their gorgeous new art book FROM HELL’S HEART published by A Wave Blue World.

FROM HELL’S HEART is the new high quality artbook featuring over 50 brand new illustrations commemorating Melville’s greatest work including MOBY DICK, BARTLEBY, THE CONFIDENCE MAN, BILLY BUDD and many more.

July 24, 2019: Marvels Epilogue Signing

Writer Kurt Busiek appears at Excalibur Books & Comics on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM to celebrate the release of MARVELS EPILOGUE!

An all-new standalone epilogue to the classic MARVELS graphic novel written by Kurt Busiek and fully-painted by Alex Ross! A “Marvels” look at the “all-new, all-different” X-Men of the 1970s. In this 16-page story, Alex and Kurt bring Marvel’s world to brilliant, realistic life one last time, as the now-retired Phil Sheldon and his daughters, in Manhattan to see the Christmas lights, find themselves in the middle of a clash between the outsider heroes and the deadly Sentinels, giving them a close-up perspective on the mutant experience. Also featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this special story, and other bonus features.

Aug. 26, 2018: Star Wars Ship Designer Signing

Excalibur Comics is proud to welcome sci-fi legend Colin Cantwell to Portland on Sunday, August 26th! From noon till 1:00 PM, Colin will be meeting with fans and signing, and from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, he’ll be presenting clips from a variety of his favorite movie moments!

Colin Cantwell was the original concept artist and modeler for all things that flew in the first Star Wars movie, “A New Hope”. His designs include the X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Death Star, Star Destroyer, original Millennium Falcon, Y-Wing and others. Developing the process of “Kitbashing” to build the ships, he revolutionized the modeling industry by tearing apart model kits of cars, boats and planes and re-constructing the pieces into objects such as the Star Wars ship models. In addition to his contribution to Star Wars, Colin has been involved in several other iconic projects. His credits include:

• Working closely with Stanley Kubrick to design the space scenes and suggest the memorable music for “2001, A Space Odyssey”;
• Being the “Hal 9000 Computer” that conveyed the flight progress of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing to Walter Cronkite while Cronkite was broadcasting live on national TV;
• Designing the first OmniMax theater in San Diego which later became Imax;
• Developing the first multi-color computer monitor for HP;
• Working on several other movies including, War Games, Close Encounters of the Third Kind;
• And more!
